Monateri to Inaugurate European Gaius

A whole new Program to foster and develop a European Judicial Common Consciousness will be inaugurated in Rome at the Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura.

The Program has been entitled ‘European Gaius‘ with an explicit reference to Monateri’s path breaking article of 2000 Black Gaius, questioning and restructuring the basis of the Western Legal Tradition

Monateri becomes President of Scientific Commitee of Centro Einaudi

In a recent reorganisation of the old and prestigious research center in Turin, Monateri has been appointed by the Board chaired by Salvatore Carrubba, vice-director of the Sole 24ore, the most prominent italian newpaper.
In the past the Centro Einaudi has been chaired by Mario Deaglio, former President of Montedison, and professor of Economics, and Giuliano Urbani, sometime minister of the Republic, amd professo of political science.

Monateri is going to held a conference in Verona, at the Law and Literature Italian Society Annual Meeting, on the Images of Law and The American Sublime

The conference is centered around Harold Bloom’s interpretation of Emerson and the birth of the American Sublime, with particular reference to the Hudson River Paintng School, to investigate how these ideas may be traced in the background of actual representations of Law within the rethorical package of the Rule of Law as disappearance of decision in favor of depicting the Law as an impersonal tool of government

Workshop on Ronald Coase for his 100th Birthday

“Deconstructing Coase”, a celebration for Ronald Coase’s 100 years” , which will take place on December 9 before the SIDE-ISLE conference on December 10-11 2010 http://www.side-isle.it/ocs2/index.php/SIDE/index/schedConfs/current

hosted by the Free University of Bozen Bolzano.

The workshop will be introduced by a keynote lecture by Prof. Henry Smith (Harvard) who will touch upon property rights issue.

Contributors of the workshop are asked to focus on a specific ‘fragment’ of the Coasean theories they believe deserving some further analysis or development and/or to be clarified, also with respect to conventional wisdom in the literature on the law and economics of institutions.
